Scrambling
Mountain scrambles provide some of the longest, most involved and beautiful ascents in the UK
Bridging the gap between walking and climbing, you move in groups of up to three, varying your approach depending on the shifting terrain underfoot - sometimes you’ll be walking, sometimes moving with a short rope, sometimes all out pitched climbing. Scrambling allows you to cover long distances in an efficient and safe way, exploring beautiful areas and making for unforgettable adventures. Leading requires a wide set of skills - you need to be adaptable, comfortable with a variety of techniques and able to make dynamic decisions quickly. We can teach you the skills that you need to become an independent leader, or if you would like us to guide you up some classics, we’d be more than happy to put together a trip for you.
We offer the following scrambling trips and courses:
Intro/Guided - if you’re itching to tick off certain routes, we can guide you up them, or if you’d prefer, we can show you some of our all-time favourites. Let us know your preferences, and we will tailor a trip to suit you perfectly
Refresher/Improver - brush up on your skills and make sure that you’re up to date - we can assess your skills and pinpoint areas to improve. Whether you’ve had some time off, or want to improve your skills, we can bolster your confidence, make you safer, and give you tips and techniques to be a more efficient scrambler. However long you’ve been scrambling, there’s always something new to learn
Learn to Lead - scrambling leading is a deceptively tricksy skill, requiring a constantly changing approach and quick decision making. On our scrambling learn to lead courses, we take you through rope management and coils, how to place gear and build anchors, direct and indirect belaying, short roping, moving together and route reading
